Song of the day: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers- Refugee
In 1979, Tom Petty was quite angry with a record label. What was the problem? ABC records, where he was signed up, tried selling their contract to MCA Records, without informing Petty. He wrote a song, Mike Campbell wrote the music, and then the song had to be recorded, which took a very long time. A girl from the reception in the studio where they mixed the song, told them they would have a hit with it. They were not sure, but now we know they hit number 15 in the US. Enjoy

Song of the day: Traveling Wilburys- Handle With Care
In 1988, George Harrison was recording some songs. One of these songs would be This Is Love, which needed a b-side. When Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne joined him for some jamming, the song was written quickly. The inspiration came from a box with the text handle with care on it. They went into the studio of Bob Dylan to record a basic song. The record compagny of George Harrison thought it to be too good as a b-side, and encouraged the group to record an album. Of that album, Handle With Care was the main single. The song became a number 45 hit in the US and a number 21 in the UK. Roy Orbison died shortly after the recording. Enjoy

Song of the day: Eric Clapton & Friends- Call Me The Breeze
There was a lot of new talent this year, but the established names also made music. Eric Clapton, for example. He invited his friends Mark Knopfler, John Mayer, Tom Petty, Don White and Willie Nelson to play a tribute to JJ Cale with him. The result is really fantastic, the album even went to number 1 in the Dutch album charts! Enjoy
