A Dutch danceformation from the nineties today. In 1997 they had a big summerhit with Fiësta, which would be their only hit. Until they decided to remix the thing, together with another group, in 2003 and name it differently: Summer Jam 2003. Again they rose in the charts, having another summerhit. Today we are going to have a little party with this hit. Enjoy
The Sunclub- Fiësta
A real nineties dance classic today! And there’s one nice thing which it has in common with Fiesta from the Sunclub.
And yes, if you listen to them, you might say: they are totally different, apart from that they both sound sunny. But what do they have in common? Well, the whistle. And for some reason, this whistle gives an extra dimension to the song. Or at least for me it does. Since I knew Fiesta earlier than this song, I combine the whistle with summer (isn’t this a nice example of Pavlov?) So maybe this is the cause for me to call it a summer hit, although it was a hit in the U.S.A. in November. In Holland, it actually did good in the period before summer, having the highest position in May.
The Good Men- Give It Up
This is a song with some history. Let’s start with the original release of the single in 2001. I suppose, although I’m not sure, that it became no hit.
However, never give up: in 2003 the single was released again, this time with a lot of success. By the way: that’s the reason for the 2003 after Summer Jam.
In the song, the Underdog Project used several samples from the Sunclub, from the hit Fiesta. This song was released in 1997.
And all this history together made it to a big summer hit, which is on number 17 in the Summer Song Of The Day Top 20!
