Is Uptown Funk plagiarism and what else was ‘stolen’ (borrowed!) in disco

Uptown-Funk-Mark-Ronson-Bruno_Mars

This week the message came that Uptown Funk would be plagiarism. The Sequence, a rap group from the eighties (with no hits on their name) claimed the song would be quite like their song Funk You Up. I think the simularities are very very very little, but there are several cases where it is more obvious. Read the rest of this entry

Song of the day: Dj Cassidy featuring Robin Thicke & Jessie J- Calling All Hearts

This can’t go wrong, I thought. Disco returned in 2013 and would spread further in 2014. This song was from the beginning of the year, and DJ Cassidy gathered a lot of famous names: Nile Rodgers (from Chic), John Robinson (Rufus & Chaka Kahn), Philip Bailey, Verdine White and Larry Dunn (Earth, Wind & Fire) and Robin Thicke together with Jessie J singing. A guaranteed hit, but it did not get very far in the world. Number 6 in the UK and number 9 in the US club songs chart, and that’s it. I very much like it, so enjoy and dance to

Song of the day: Pharrell Williams- Happy

This man doesn’t need an introduction anymore. Maybe he needed one last year, now he’s famous. I mean, he had the best year an artist can get. From almost nothing to everything. It started with cooperating with Robin Thicke (Blurred Lines), then he got to do a song with Daft Punk AND Nile Rodgers (Get Lucky), and then he had a major hit with the soundtrack of an animation movie. Enjoy:

Song of the day: Goo Goo Dolls- Rebel Beat / Robin Thicke feat. T.I. & Pharrell- Blurred Lines

Hi there,

Today TWO new songs!

Firstly, a cool new track from the Goo Goo Dolls.
Of course you know them from the hit Iris, but after that, it was very quiet around them in the Netherlands.
In America, they had some other hits. However, they are back!
Their new single is called Rebel Beat and I love this song!

The second song is also good, and it’s made by someone who we know already. Do you remember When I Get You Alone? This is totally different, but the first experience with the song was a good one, so I suggest it as a possible hit:
Robin Thicke with Blurred Lines (feat. T.I. & Pharrell)

Tomorrow the answer to the small question about Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall from yesterday.

And please VOTE for the Song Of The Day Top 50!
