Song of the day: Lilly Wood & the Prick- Prayer In C
In 2010, Lilly Wood & The Prick made a song called Prayer In C. This was a folk pop song, which never charted. Until Robin Schulz took the song (without permission) and remixed it. He then released it and took it to number 1 in almost all countries you can think of, including the UK. In the US, the song ended up on 87 in the general chart. Enjoy

Song of the day: Raffaella Carra- A Far L’Amore Comincia Tu
This Italian lady is active in more than only singing: she also presents programms on the Italian television and she is an actress. In this role, she acted in Von Ryan’s Express, a movie which also features Frank Sinatra. In 1977, she had a big hit with the song of the day, which was later remixed by Bob Sinclar, which meant a new (smaller) hit. Personally, I like the original very much more than the remix. Therefore, enjoy

Song of the day: Lana Del Rey- Summertime Sadness
In 2012, Lana Del Rey released her second album. From this album, the song Video Games became a big hit, but there were some singles following the first single, though not charting. This song was a minor hit in many countries, and is mostly heard in a (awfull) remix. The original is, in all its purity, a pearl which makes you sad because summer seems to end… listen to

Song of the day: Shaft- (Mucho Mambo) Sway
Today we have to go back a long time to find the roots of the song of the day. We end up in 1953, when a Mexican instrumental song is released. It’s a mambo song, so that makes it sound like the summer. Dean Martin took this song in 1954, which was translated in English for him and it was given the title Sway, which was the translation of the Mexican title. Then the song went on, was covered and remixed, for example by the Pussycat Dolls, Michael Bublé, Cliff Richard and Jennifer Lopez. And that are only a few of them. One version, a remix, became a big hit for Shaft. It would be their biggest hit. And therefore, I would say: enjoy

Song of the day: Run-DMC vs. Jason Nevins- It’s Like That
Run-D.M.C.. One of those hip hop groups who started in the eighties and had some big successes. They had a single, their debute, with It’s Like That, a song that was no hit at all and is not remembered. In 1986, they took a song from Aerosmith, Walk This Way, to change it into something completely different. This was their first real success. And then it went up and down. Some songs charted, others didn’t, until 1998. Jason Nevins, a DJ, remixed their debute, It’s Like That. It was a huge success, scoring in some countries a number one hit. And today it’s the song of the day, so enjoy

Song of the day: Lykke Li- I Follow Rivers
One of the best songs from 2012 was I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li, if you ask me. And of course in the remix, but the original is good, although it’s difficult to find (for me!). And with this song, we are almost at the end of the travel. Two more songs, then we are back in 2014. We will travel through time after that, but not that structured. For now, enjoy

The answer of Duke
Remember that I had Duke’s So In Love With You as song of the day a while ago? He sent me an e-mail to tell that So In Love With You will be released again soon, as a remixed version.
Of course I like to hear something about new music as well, and especially mixes are always welcome! I tried to contact him, but my e-mails returned to sender, so I wrote a post. And yes, a reaction followed!
New material is coming soon, and you can hear something on the following links to Soundcloud:
https://soundcloud.com/markadamsuk (the album Fixing Broken Pieces)
and

I have already listened to some of the material, and it sounds great! I will keep you up-to-date about new material.
Summer Song of the Day #19: Los Del Rios- Macarena
Nineties, summer, dance. Almost all the qualities of this song to become a hit. The Summer hit of 1996. But actually, we have to say: The Bayside Boys Remix.
The original song was not such a hit, but in the remix, it became a big hit! And now almost everyone knows the song AND the dance!
So, what do you mean by popular?
The popularity was good to have a 19th place in the Summer Song of the Day Top 20:
Number 19: Los Del Rio- Macarena [Bayside Boys Remix]
Song of the day: Ida Corr vs. Fedde Le Grand- Let Me Think About It
Howdy folks,
Today a song which has been remixed…
And it sounds good! What was its title again? Wait…
Ida Corr Vs. Fedde Le Grand with Let Me Think About It.
Tomorrow another good song!
(And don’t forget to vote for the Song of the day Top 50!)
Song of the day: JXL vs. Elvis Presley- A Little Less Conversation
Yes, here we are again!
A little bit more recent than yesterday, to be precise: 2002.
And the song is with Elvis Presley! Huh? Impossible, isn’t it?
No. It’s a remix, made by the Dutch producer Tom Holkenborg, better known as Junkie XL, or JXL.
The remix was approved by the family of Elvis, and the song is called: A little less conversation.
And to agree with this song, I will hereby stop talking and I will see you tomorrow!
Song of the day: Trijntje Oosterhuis- Knocked Out
Hello everyone,
It’s friday! Which means, it’s superfriday!
Two new songs, made by Dutch artists.
The first song is made by Trijntje Oosterhuis. She was the singer of Total Touch, which was song of the day a few weeks ago.
Trijntje is for a time making music alone. First mostly jazz, but now Anouk wrote some songs for her. And that gives a completely different view on things!
The song is called Knocked Out.
The second song is a remix. Normally I’m not a fan of remixes, but this one sounds good!
It’s the remix of Bad, made by Afrojack, Usher and of course Michael Jackson.
The song of the week is…. tatatata….. Trijntje Oosterhuis with Knocked out!
