Song of the day: Queen- Killer Queen

Queen - Killer Queen

In 1974, Queen was not yet famous. They would have their first hit with this song, which was number 2 in the UK and number 12 in the US. The song broke with the first two albums, which were heavy loaded. The third album, Sheer Heart Attack, which featured this song, had a lighter tone. The lyrics were written before the music, which was normally the other way around: first the music, then the text. The first line quotes a quote from Marie Antoinette (though she never said it), namely: “Let them eat cake,” she says, Just like Marie Antoinette. A great song and one of my favourite Queen songs, enjoy

Queen- Killer Queen

Queen

Queen

This band is one of the best bands in the world (or so I do think). Their music is just fantastic (although there are some songs which are not my cup of tea), and the voice of Freddie Mercury is a big part of that. The rest of the band is important, too, because what would Queen be without Brian May to play the guitar, or the drums of Roger Taylor? And then I forgot the great bass play by John Deacon.

They have had lots and lots of hits, and actually I should compile a list of the best Queen-songs. Maybe for later…

Song of the day: Donna Summer- Hot Stuff

Donna_Summer-Endless_Summer_(Donna_Summer_s_Greatest_Hits)-Frontal

It was a year ago when she died. On the 17th of May, 2012, Donna Summer died.
Unfortunately, I forgot when she died, otherwise this post would have been there on the 17th of May.
It is not too late!

The Queen of Disco still lives in her hits, and one of her biggest hits is the song of the day.
Actually, I’m doubting a bit. She made some great songs, like MacArthur Park and On the Radio, but these aren’t exactly disco…
Oh! I know the solution.

What do you think of Hot Stuff as song of the day???

Song of the day: Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé- Barcelona

Freddie_Mercury_Montserrat_Caballe_-_Barcelona_front

It was an unusual combination: Freddie Mercury, the man who was the singer of the popgroup Queen, sang with the operasinger Montserrat Caballé.
However, the combination of the two turned out to be a gold combination. And therefore I have to choose Barcelona itself as the song of the day.
And please listen closely to the text: it’s about their meeting!

Song of the day: André Rieu- Crowning Waltz / Krystl- Circles

Yeah! Two songs today, both new!

I want to apologize for the little information provided today, but I don’t have a lot of time today. Maybe more information tomorrow!

The first song is made by Krystl, who we have seen before in the song of the day.
She made a very good new single, which is worth listening to: Circles!

The second song is made by a violist called André Rieu! He made for the change of the crown in the Netherlands a Crowningwaltz, which is the second song of today.

Tomorrow another song, and more information!

Band Aid- Do They Know It’s Christmas / Chris Rea- Driving Home For Christmas

Hello everyone,

I wish everybody a merry Christmas! And because of this special day, I have some presents for you!
Because today not one, but two songs! And both are Christmas songs!

The first one is made by Chris Rea, a great artist. His song is one of the Christmas classics.
Maybe you have to drive home too, I’m home, but okay… Driving home for Christmas!

The second song of today was made for charity. The record was made by a lot of different artists, including Ultravox and Duran Duran.
It’s Band Aid with Do They Know It’s Christmas?

I wish you a very merry Christmas, and I hope you have a nice day!

Greetings,Chris

Song of the day: Queen- I Want To Break Free

Hello everyone,

Today a clip from a very famous band. Their lead singer is dead, and the band is still active, but not as good as with their lead singer.
Mostly that’s the case with passing away of group members. And this person can’t be replaced…

I’m talking about Freddie Mercury, with his band Queen. The song of today is I Want To Break Free. This clip is absolutely genious, because it represents the song. You see the members of Queen as women, playing in something like Coronation Street.
Then there’s a part with ballet in between, which is also very nice to see.

Most persons think it was the idea of Freddie Mercury to do the clip where all members are dressed up as women, but the idea actually came from Roger Taylor (That’s the story…)

I hope you like the song (and the clip), tomorrow I’ve got something else for you!
