Song of the day: Gary Fomdeck- I’ll Be There This Christmas

Garyfomdeck-illbetherethischristmas-400x400

Firstly: Merry Christmas everybody!
Secondly: the song of the day. Actually, this song is a joke, which has become a bit too big… Every year, 3FM (a radio station) has an action for charity: Serious Request. One of the DJ’s, Gerard Ekdom, recorded a song in secret. No-one knew he was Gary Fomdeck, and so some radio stations started playing the song. And now it is number one in the Netherlands iTunes chart… Enjoy

Song of the day: Dotan- Home

dotan home

In the Netherlands, Dotan came back in the hit charts this year. Though he is not known outside the Netherlands yet, I would like to share this song with you. It has got something magic over it, and is the hit of the year in the Netherlands. Listen and enjoy

Dotan- Home

Song of the day: Duncan Browne- Wild Places

duncanbrownewildplaces

A hit in the Netherlands today. And although the cover of the single says that the song is from 1991, the original is from 1978 (and I can’t explain the difference. Duncan Browne is someone who did quite some things in the pop music. He wrote the choir part in the song Hang On To A Dream from The Nice, hit the charts with Journey and made the song Criminal World, which would later be recorded by David Bowie on his album Let’s Dance. This is the only song I know by him, since we (in the Netherlands) may hear it on the radio. Enjoy

Song of the day: The Three Degrees- Dirty Ol’ Man

three degrees dirty ol man

A seventies song today, which could be seen as a pre-disco song. It came from Philadelphia, which had its own sound, just like Motown had its own sound. These things helped to create the disco, and this song is a good example of what helped it to develop. I’m not gonna talk about the content of the song, as it is too obvious to discuss. What was suprising to me, was that it never really hit any of the charts. Even in the US R&B chart it stuck to place 58. In the Netherlands, however, this was a real number one hit! (that might have to do with the performance they did on Toppop, which was the Dutch Top of the Pops. I tried to find the movie, but YouTube deleted the account of Toppop, because of a rightsissue…). I hope you enjoy

Song of the day: Lois Lane- It’s The First Time

Its-The-First-Time

I woke up this morning with the total lyrics of this song in my head, including the music and the intro. I have strange moods, sometimes, and I can’t tell why it was just this song. However, their album, which is on CD at home, is a very good album, although it only has 6 songs on it. One of these songs, the first one, is the song which was one of their biggest hits. In the nineties, they had another big hit, but they never had as much success as with their first album, which featured a lot of hits. Enjoy

Song of the day: Earth & Fire- Weekend

earth-and-fire-weekend-carrere

Well, today it’s Saturday, so… WEEKEND! And therefore I thought it might be nice to find a track which matches the time. I found this old disco classic from Earth And Fire (not to be confused with Earth, Wind & Fire, as I did). Earth and Fire was a band from The Hague, so from Holland. They began their career in the sixties, and this classic is from the late seventies, so TOP-disco and an international hit. Enjoy your weekend and

Song of the day: André Rieu- Crowning Waltz / Krystl- Circles

Yeah! Two songs today, both new!

I want to apologize for the little information provided today, but I don’t have a lot of time today. Maybe more information tomorrow!

The first song is made by Krystl, who we have seen before in the song of the day.
She made a very good new single, which is worth listening to: Circles!

The second song is made by a violist called André Rieu! He made for the change of the crown in the Netherlands a Crowningwaltz, which is the second song of today.

Tomorrow another song, and more information!

Song(s) of the day: Armin van Buuren- This Is What It Feels Like / Michael Bublé- It’s A Beautiful Day

Hi there,

Tomorrow TWO new songs!

The first song is sounding like summer, and you get happy immediately! Oh yes, it’s a beautiful day!
Michael Bublé with It’s A Beautiful Day!

And the second song is made by a Dutch DJ, who has released his new single! It’s a good song, too:
It’s Armin van Buuren with This Is What It Feels Like!

I hope you enjoy the songs, tomorrow an old song!

Last chance: Vote for the Song of the day Top 50!

Song of the day: Rigby- Earth Meets Water / Train- Mermaid

The last new songs for March…
Next week it’s April!

The first new song is made by a band which I like very much. And actually, this band is made by Holland…
Their first song was popular in the Netherlands, and after that, they became popular in the rest of the world.
I’m talking about Train with their new song Mermaid!

For the second song I don’t really have an introduction, since the music says all!
All I can say is that it is a very good song!
It’s Rigby with Earth Meets Water!

And please vote for the Song of the day top 50, since I don’t have that much votes!

Song of the day: Alain Clark- Back In My World / Anouk- Birds

Hi there,

Today two new songs of the day, both from Holland!

Firstly, the new single of Alain Clark. It’s really a good single!
I can’t say a lot more about it than that it is very good song.
It’s Alain Clark with Back In My World!

And the second song is our song for the Eurovision Song Contest…
Anouk with Birds!
Some say it’s a bad song, some say it’s really good and we will win…
I don’t know. At least it’s a good single!

That were the songs for today, tomorrow another song!

Song(s) of the day: Andy Grammar- Fine By Me / Lisa Lois- Silhouette

Hello there,

We are starting March right with two new songs! And they are good, trust me…

The first song is made by a Dutch singer, who has won a talent show a few years ago.
After her first hit a few years ago, Hallelujah, she is back with a new song: Silhouette.
It’s Lisa Lois!

The second song is made by someone who had his first big hit last year, and he is just continuing with this.
His last name is my favourite part of the English lessons (absolutely not)!
It’s Andy Grammer with Fine By Me!

These were the songs for today, tomorrow an older song.

Song(s) of the day: Caro Emerald- Tangled Up / The Lumineers- Ho Hey!

Ho hey there,

Today we’ve got 2 new songs!

The first song has a title which is simular to the first two words of this post.
You might know Mumford and Sons, and if you like them, you might like this group as well.
If you don’t like them, you probably won’t like this song as well…
It are The Lumineers with Ho Hey!

And then there’s a new song of the woman which I find very good…
She’s Dutch, and she has had one song of the day before.
It’s the new song of Caro Emerald, which is named: Tangled Up
I absolutely like this new song!

Song(s) of the day: Kensington- Home Again / Emeli Sandé- Clown

Hello there,

Today two songs, and both are new!

The first song is made by a Dutch band, and they have named themselves after a part of London.
They are busy since 2005, but their new single is really good!
It’s Kensington with Home Again!

The second song is made by a singer from Scotland. She is busy since 2009, and has had a few big hits in the past year.
The latest hit was together with Labyrinth.
Yes, it’s Emeli Sandé with Clown!

Next week I’ve two other selections for you!

Song of the day: Loona- Bailando

Hi there,

I’ve got something Dutch and exotic for you! And you can dance on it very good…
One hint: The translation of the name in English is moon…

It’s Loona with Bailando, to get the summer feeling!

Have fun!

Song(s) of the day: Miss Montreal- Giving Up On You / M.K.T.O.- Thank You

Hello there,

I have some new songs for you!

The first song I know already for some weeks, but I was still waiting for it to be a hit.
And that lasts and lasts, and still I couldn’t find it in the hit charts.
So here is it on my blog, hoping to become a hit: M.K.T.O. with Thank You!

The second song is made by a Dutch artist. She is really good, and even better if you keep in mind that she stummers when she speaks!
Luckily, she doesn’t stummer when she sings, so she makes really good music. It’s Miss Montreal with Giving Up On You.
And do I like these songs! Wow!

Song(s) of the day: Ilse DeLange- We Are One / Coldplay- Up In Flames

Hi there,

Today there are two new songs for you!

The first song which I think is very nice, is a song of a Dutch artist.
She is called Ilse DeLange, and she has made a lot of hits already. Her new single was for her father, but he died soon after releasing the single.
This gives the song an extra load.
The song is called We Are One.

The second song of this day is made by Coldplay. For the song, they used a drummachine.
It sounds good, but I do not entirely agree with the use from this machine. I like Coldplay, because they use real instruments!
But, okay, the song is very good. My top-tip from this week is Up In Flames.

That were my first tips for the new month!

Song(s) of the day: Avicii vs. Nicky Romero- I Could Be The One / Justive Collective- He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother

Hello everyone,

Today it’s friday, which means: two new songs!
And I have some good songs…

The first song is made for some kind of charity. The Justice Collective is a band with all kind of artists, including Robbie Williams and Melanie C.
This song went to number one in the UK, and I think that it might go to high positions in other countries, as well.
It’s a cover from He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.

The second song is made by two DJ’s. One is very known, the other one is new. And the new one is Dutch!
The new one is Nicky Romero, and the known one is Avicii.
The track is called I Could Be The One.

And the song of the week is… not relevant anymore.

Song of the day: JXL vs. Elvis Presley- A Little Less Conversation

Yes, here we are again!

A little bit more recent than yesterday, to be precise: 2002.
And the song is with Elvis Presley! Huh? Impossible, isn’t it?
No. It’s a remix, made by the Dutch producer Tom Holkenborg, better known as Junkie XL, or JXL.

The remix was approved by the family of Elvis, and the song is called: A little less conversation.

And to agree with this song, I will hereby stop talking and I will see you tomorrow!

Song of the day: Van Velzen- Sing Sing Sing / Tom Odell- Another Love

Hello everyone,

It’s friday, which means two new songs! I will start immediately, since there’s so much to say about those songs!

The first song is sung by a Dutch singer. We came across him earlier, but now his song is a new single.
In this single, he sings with his father, and in the song there are some songtitles of the Beatles.I’m talking about Roel VanVelzen, shortly VanVelzen, with Sing Sing Sing.
In this song you can hear the following titles of Beatlessongs:

Strawberry fields forever

The long and winding road

Got to get you into my life

That was the first song, which I find absolutely a hit!
The second song is made by a singer which I heard only a few minutes ago. Immediately, I thought: this is the song of today!
I can’t say much about him, it’s just a good song!
It’s Tom Odell with Another Love.

And then… the song of the week!!! It’s Another Love from Tom Odell!

Song of the day: Di-Rect – Still Life

Hello everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day.
The song of today is made by a Dutch band, who are helped by Coldplay to get some fame in other countries.
It’s Di-Rect, with Still Life.

The video is quite special, since it’s a stop motion video with over 3000 photographs!
In total, the video took over 32 hours of making photographs, acting and posing.

And the video is beautiful! It’s about a woman, whose senses are playing a big role.

I wish you a lot of fun with it!

Song of the day: Handsome Poets- Sky On Fire / Don Diablo- The Artist Inside

Hello everyone,

The last song of November, before we go into December. Today it’s superfriday, so 2 new songs!

The first song is made for a special action on the Dutch TV this week. The action was for the KWF, an organization against cancer.
The action was very successful, and the themesong is also very good. It’s made by Don Diablo and JP Cooper. The song is called The Artist Inside.
I hope cancer is not there anymore within a few years, but the song is very emotional…

The second song has been song of the day before, as well as song of the week.
But because I got so much likes, it has to be the song of the day once more. It are the Handsome Poets with Sky On Fire!
New songs which sound good are of course coming on the site as well!

And the song of the week is of course The Artist Inside!

In December the theme is… still a secret. Tomorrow more…

Song of the day: Dizzy Man’s Band- The Opera

Hello everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day. Still in the Dutch mood, and still going strong.
The song of today is a made by a band from the seventies, and their song is really stunning…
You simply don’t know what you hear!
It’s the Dizzy Man’s Band with The Opera

Have some fun with it!

Tomorrow two new songs, made by Dutch artists… And after that, it’s December….

Song of the day: Golden Earring- Radar Love

Hello everyone,

It’s almost december, which means the Dutch month has ended…

But it’s not december yet! We still have four songs to go!

The song of today is made by an old group, which is still making music today.
I’m talking about Golden Earring, with Radar Love.
Radar Love was their first hit, which became a big international success.

Tomorrow a new song!

Song of the day: VanVelzen- The Rush Of Life

Hi-de-hi campers!

Just wanted to say that!
Yesterday the song of the day was Let some air in, from Alain Clark. I didn’t have much time to write information, so I will do it here and now:

Alain Clark is making music for some years now, with quite some hits in the Netherlands. His latest single was the song of yesterday, Let some air in.
I think he makes very nice music, and I hope you think that, too.

Then, the new song. The song of today is made by Roel VanVelzen, or just VanVelzen. He’s very good, and his latest single is the song of the day.
The song is called The Rush Of Life.
I hope you enjoy it!

Tomorrow an older song in the Dutch music history…
P.S. I don’t know what to do in December! If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments and I will choose the best!

Song of the day: Alain Clark- Let Some Air In

Hey everyone,

I’ve not got so much time today, so here’s the new song of the day:

Alain Clark- Let some air in

Tomorrow some more info around the song!

Song of the day: Waylon- Wicked Way

The last week Dutch musicians. What I’m going to do in December?
I don’t know yet, but if you have a suggestion, please say it!

Okay, the song for today. It’s a song which is happy, and I like it…
The artist is Waylon, the song is called Wicked Way.

I think he can make it abroad as well, but the problem is that he hasn’t made very much albums yet.

But we can hope for it, right?

Song of the day: Spargo- You And Me

Hello everyone,

I’ve got a nice song for you. It’s from the eighties, and it really was a big hit then.

I’m talking about the Dutch group Spargo, with their biggest hit: You and me.

They have made several songs, but none of those songs had as much success as You and Me.

Let me know what you think about it!

And tomorrow a new song…

Song of the day: Trijntje Oosterhuis- Knocked Out

Hello everyone,

It’s friday! Which means, it’s superfriday!

Two new songs, made by Dutch artists.

The first song is made by Trijntje Oosterhuis. She was the singer of Total Touch, which was song of the day a few weeks ago.
Trijntje is for a time making music alone. First mostly jazz, but now Anouk wrote some songs for her. And that gives a completely different view on things!
The song is called Knocked Out.

The second song is a remix. Normally I’m not a fan of remixes, but this one sounds good!
It’s the remix of Bad, made by Afrojack, Usher and of course Michael Jackson.

The song of the week is…. tatatata….. Trijntje Oosterhuis with Knocked out!

Song of the day: Laura Jansen- Wicked World

Hello everybody,

Yesterday Anouk was the artist who made the song of the day, and today there’s another artist…

She made a cover of Use somebody from the Kings of Leon, but she also made some hits by herself.
One of her own songs is the song of the day. I am talking about Laura Jansen, with the song Wicked World.

I think this song is very nice.

And, if you want to hear her cover from Use Somebody, you can hear it here: Use Somebody.

Tomorrow two songs!

Song of the day: Anouk- Nobody’s Wife

Slowly we move towards the end of the year… A new year, new chances, etc.

But that’s not the case yet. We have a song of the day in the Dutch category.

Today I want to talk about a woman who is really good. She’s already busy since the nineties, and made quite some hits.
She has made a lot of powersongs, but also some ballads.
I’m talking about Anouk, a real good singer. The song of the day is Nobody’s wife.

She has made a lot of hits.

If you want to hear more, just listen to:

Michel

Killer bee

Other songs without my links: Girl, For Bitter or Worse, Lost, R U Kidding Me, Sacrifice, One Word, Good God, I Don’t Wanna Hurt, Modern World, Three Days in a row.

And that are some of her hits, not even all!

Song of the day: 2 Brothers On The Fourth Floor- Never Alone

And here’s something nice for you. Or at least, I think it’s nice…

Back from the nineties, with all the house, this are the 2 Brothers On The Fourth Floor.

They made some happy hardcore songs, and one of them is the song of the day: Never alone.

I hope that you like it as much as I do, and for a moment think back to the nineties (good time, I was born!).

Want to hear more?

Dreams

Come Take My Hand

Song of the day: The Baby’s- Everytime I Think Of You

Today I want to ask your attention for someone who usually sings in Dutch, but once recorded a cover.

I’m talking about Marco Borsato, who is quite famous in the Netherlands. He recorded a cover of Everytime I think of you, together with Lucie Silvas.
The original, of course, is made by the Baby’s.

The cover was made for Symphonica in Rosso, which are a few concerts of one artist.

That was the song of today, tomorrow a new one!

Song of the day: Krystl- Golden Days

Hello everyone,

The new song of the day is made by a Dutch singer, who is just starting. However, she’s made some great songs, and one of them is the song of today!
The singer where I’m talking about, is Krystl. Her song is called Golden Days.

It’s a good song, isn’t it?
Thought so!

Want to hear more of Krystl?
Listen to:

-Bottles
-Fool for you

Song of the day: Krezip- I Would Stay

Hello everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day.
The song of the day is made by a group which doesn’t exist anymore.

The group is called Krezip, and the song of the day I Would Stay.

I think the song is beautiful, and I know it ever since I was 4 years old.

Tomorrow a new song!

Song of the day: Sharon Doorson- Fail In Love

Hello everyone,

Today it’s friday! End of the week for most, and it also means that there are two songs of the day!
It’s still November, so still Dutch artists. And I have found some!

The first song is made by an artist who is new in the music world.
Her name is Sharon Doorson, and in september her first single was released.
This song is called Fail in Love. I think she can make it abroad as well, and I actually hope so!

And then the song of the week. Who will be that after the Handsome Poets?
It is….. Sharon Doorson with Fail in Love!

Tomorrow a new song!

Song of the day: Roberto Jacketti & the Scooters- I Saved The Day

Hello everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day. It’s a classic, from the eighties.
And, if I may say so, it’s a song which is nice to hear, but at the same time you wouldn’t say you like it.

Where’s this all about? About Roberto Jacketti & The Scooters with I saved the day.

A lot of fun with it!

Tomorrow two songs from this moment!

Song of the day: Luv- You’re The Greatest Lover

Hello everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day.
The new song of the day is made by a group which stopped this year.
Their biggest hits, however, were all made quite some years ago.

I’m talking about the Dutch girl-group Luv, with You’re The Greatest Lover.

Enjoy and have fun! You make me feel, yeah, feel alright. Lalallalallalalala.

I’m in the mood, everytime I hear this I get happy!

Song of the day: George Baker Selection- Little Green Bag

Hello everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day!
The song of today is a song which is quite old, but still popular. It’s also used a few years ago in the movie “resevoir dogs.

It’s (the) George Baker (selection) with Little Green Bag!

He had a lot of success with this song, and is also known for his other hit.
Which one? Una Paloma Blanca, of course!

Tomorrow a new song of the day!

Song of the day: Blof & the Counting Crows- Holiday In Spain

Hello everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day. The song of today is a half Dutch/half English song.

It’s a cooperation between the American band The Counting Crows and the Dutch band Blof.

The song which was the result is Holiday in Spain.

Blof is existing for 20 years this year, and they have made a lot of hits, all sung in Dutch.

I’m fan of them, so that’s why they are the song of the day.

Tomorrow a new song of the day!

Song of the day: Shocking Blue- Venus

Hello everyone,

The song of today is made by a group which was successful in the Netherlands, but also got a number one hit in the USA.

It’s a few years ago, from the seventies…

Shocking Blue with Venus.

It’s the original song, which was later covered by Bananarama. The last version I think isn’t that good, because the sound of Shocking Blue, which has a thing with it, can’t be heard there.
Nowadays they don’t exist anymore, but they have had a lot of success in the Netherlands and abroad.

Tomorrow a new song!

Song of the day: Dolly Dots- Love Me Just A Little Bit More

Hello everyone,

Hereby the new song of the day.

Song of the day: Racoon- No Mercy

Hello everyone,

After two days of the Handsome Poets with the song of the day, I want to get your attention for another band, which is also very popular in the Netherlands, and also very good!
The band where I’m talking about is called Racoon, and the song is called No Mercy.

I absolutely like their music, and I think that they could make it abroad, too.

Therefore, I would like to ask you: If you like this band, please like this post.

And, if you want to hear more of Racoon, check out these songs:

-Took A Hit

-Liverpool Rain

Tomorrow 2 new songs!

Song of the day: Handsome Poets- Sky On Fire

Hello everyone,

When I opened up my mailbox this morning, I was stunned by all the likes for the post of yesterday.
It seems like the Handsome Poets can go abroad as well, or at least that they can make it abroad.

Therefore, the new song of the day is a single which has had great success in the Netherlands in the summer, because of the use in a tv-programme during the Olympic Games.
The new song of the day is called Sky on Fire, once more by the Handsome Poets.

I would like to ask you if you could like this post, if you like the Handsome Poets as well.
It also will be the song of the week, which will be published tomorrow.

Thanks!

Also check out their website.

Song of the day: Handsome Poets- Dance (The War Is Over)

Hello everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day:

Today it’s a song by a group which have had a big success last summer with their new single in the Netherlands, but who aren’t known that much outside the Netherlands.
The song of the day is one of the older singles of them, from a few years ago.

It are the Handsome Poets with Dance (The War Is Over).

I think they are really good, and are going to make it a lot further, and maybe abroad, too…
I really hope so!

Greetings,

Chris

Song of the day: 2 Unlimited- No Limit

Hello everyone,

The new song of the day has to do with house, as promised.
In fact, I’m not one who likes house a lot. Mostly it’s noise, or that’s how I hear it.

There are a few exceptions for this rule, and one of them is a dance/softhouse act, namely: 2 Unlimited!
The song of the day is from them, and it’s their biggest hit: No Limit.

Apart from being succesful in the Netherlands, this song got a number 1 hit position in 35 countries, under which the UK, Spain, Norway, France and Australia.

That was the song for today, tomorrow a new song!

Song of the day: André Rieu- Second Waltz

Hello everyone,

Here is the new song of the day:

It’s an instrumental song, and I am almost sure that you know the man who made it.
The fact is, that he almost went bankrupt by making a castle for his show.

I’m talking about André Rieu! The song of today is called the Second Waltz, played by André Rieu and orchestra, live in Maastricht (The Netherlands, and André Rieu was born in Maastricht).

I absolutely love the way André Rieu plays, and I think he’s fantastic.
If you don’t like classical music so much, take a look at this: Conquest of Paradise, played by André Rieu. Absolutely fantastic. You could see the castle, too.

Tomorrow a new song, and it has to do with house…

Song of the day: Kane- Come Together / Caro Emerald- A Night Like This

Hello everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day, or better: the two songs of the day, because it’s superfriday!
The two new songs of the day are made by Dutch persons, and I like them!

Well, the first one is made by Kane, a group from The Hague. It’s their new song, which is quite popular in the Netherlands at the moment.
I hope you enjoy it!
Kane with Come Together.

The song of the day, and from now on the new song of the week is a song which is already old in the Netherlands…
The song is in the Netherlands already known from 2009 on! But, since she’s going abroad, in a successful way, I thought: Let’s make it the song of the week.
I’m talking about Caro Emerald with A Night Like This.
I think that Caro Emerald is really good, and I would say: Buy her CD, Deleted Scenes From The Cutting Room Floor, listen to it, and I know that you like the complete CD!
I do, in each case.

Tomorrow a new song!
