Song of the day: Hoobastank- The Reason
Let’s rock a bit. I say a bit, since it’s not a typical rock song. It’s more, yeah, I don’t know, actually. Difficult to say. A magical song, that’s what it is. You can’t put your finger on it, it was a big hit, and it’s GOOD. That’s what it is. Enjoy

Song of the day: TWB ft. Anouck- Dancing In The Dark
I got an e-mail about one and a half week ago, from someone who wanted to promote two new artists. I’m willing to feature, since it’s really good music. On Friday the other song will be featured, but let’s start with the first song. The title of the song got me thinking: oh no, not a cover! I should not have worried, since it’s a completely new track. I guess not many people know the band, but if all their music is like this song, they have got some hit potential, according to me. They have the sound from the eighties synthesizer pop groups, with a touch of the present. The song is a real disco song, and you just can’t sit and listen. Well, I can’t. Check out this new music, namely:
The Writers Block ft. Anouck- Dancing In The Dark
Song of the day: Wham!- Club Tropicana
Looking in my list with songs of the day, I only found a Christmas song by them, Last Christmas.
However, they made so much more good music. On another album, Make It Big, there are some big hits like Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go and Freedom.
On this album not a lot of big hits, but their summer hit is on there!
I’m of course talking about Club Tropicana, the fifth song of the album!
Well, vote for the Summer Song of the day Top 20, since you can!
Song of the day: The Blues Brothers- Everybody Needs Somebody To Love
Oh, the soundtrack of the Blues Brothers! What a good soundtrack, and what a movie!
In this movie there were certainly a lot of car crashes, and maybe it was the highest number of cars destroyed in a movie.
Anyway, the movie is brilliant, and I chose a song that everyone knows from the movie, with some good dancing:
The song of the day is Everybody Needs Somebody To Love!
And if you don’t know the movie, watch it: it’s fun!
Song of the day: Billy Idol- Hot In The City
The song of the day has two different music videos, from which the second had a bit of resistence, since it showed his girlfriend nailed to a cross.
However, the song is very good, and that is what matters! To me, at least.
For the people to who the video does matter: the link goes to a video with only music.
Yes, it’s Hot in the City! And that’s not my city: I call 15 C not hot…
Song of the day: Culture Club- Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?
Whilst listening to the radio, a song came by and I thought: this is the song of saturday!
It’s a song from the early eighties, 1982. Since eighties music = good music, this is a very good song.
The group had more hits that this one, and one of the best known is of course Karma Chameleon.
However, that’s not my choice.
Do you remember the song Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?
Tomorrow another song!
Song of the day: Phil Collins- Sussudio
Of course there are lots of good albums, and a lot of good artists which can be in this place. Therefore, I have enough material.
If you have a request, fill in the contact form, then I can consider that artist to have a song of the day!
Well, this is an album by Phil Collins, and it is called No Jacket Required. It’s in my eyes on of his better albums, and it certainly contains one of my favourite songs!
In this song, he seems to be stummering, but it’s just part of the song. Which one would that be?
Of course, it’s Sussudio!
Song of the day: Eric Clapton- Tears In Heaven
What a beautiful album is this. Of course, Eric Clapton is a very good musician, but some of these songs are really good, or even better on this album.
I think Layla sounds beautiful on this album, but it isn’t the song of the day.
That is another song, and what would that be?
A bit too obvious, but it is a very good song: Tears In Heaven.
Song of the day: The Who- Pinball Wizard
This is a greatest hits album by the Who, one of the best bands which existed and still exist (according to me.)
And almost everyone knows a song by them.
You claim you don’t? Well, do you watch CSI? Any version of it?
If the answer is yes, you know a small part of one of their songs. They use in all three versions of CSI a song made by the Who.
In CSI: Crime Scene Investigation they use Who Are You, in CSI: Miami they use Won’t Get Fooled Again, and in CSI: New York they use Baba O’Riley.
They did many more things. They made the rock opera Tommy, featuring a lot of stars. The Dutch listeners of the Top 2000 know the Ouverture of Tommy in the version by the Metropole Orkest, which is the tune for every hour of the hitlist.
And they made a lot of good songs, like the song of the day is.
They really made too much good songs, it almost was a torture to choose one of them. So I just randomly chose one, which happened to be Pinball Wizard (also from Tommy).
Song of the day: Alphaville- Big In Japan
This is one of the covers which I think is a bit mysterious. If I see it, it captures my eye and I have to watch out that I don’t watch it for too long.
One of the questions which I have is who the man on the front is.
But okay, let’s move to the music. It is a very good album, has some big hits on it, like Forever Young, and it was the debut album of Alphaville.
The song which I think is very nice as song of the day is Big In Japan.
Enjoy listening to it, and listen to the other tracks of the album, too! Tip!!!
Song of the day: The Beatles- Can’t Buy Me Love
The song of the day comes from this album. It’s, as you can see yourself, an album by the Beatles.
The picture is from the mono version, I think my father has the stereo version, but that doesn’t matter at all.
A very good album, the title track is, but there are more songs on an album than only the title track.
This one has 13 tracks, for instance.
The song of the day is the seventh song of the first side, so if you have the album, just look it up.
If you don’t have it, there are two options: Buy it in your record store or read further. (Looking it up on the internet doesn’t count)
It’s Can’t Buy Me Love, by the Beatles of course!
Song of the day: Chris Rea- Auberge
What a beautiful picture, isn’t it? It’s the front of the album Auberge from Chris Rea.
And on this album, there are some amazingly good tracks. Of course, there is only one song of the day, but if you have some money in your pocket and no idea on what to spend it, go to the recordstore and look if they have this album.
I especially like the title track, Auberge, and therefore it’s the song of the day.
One tip: don’t skip the intro, because you think it’s boring!
Tomorrow another album and another song of the day!
Song of the day: Celine Dion- My Heart Will Go On
The last soundtrack as song of the day!
Maybe a bit too predictable, but okay, it’s a good song.
The song of today ment the breakthrough of the singer who sung the song.
It’s Celine Dion with My Heart Will Go On, the soundtrack from the movie with that sinking ship…
How was it called? mmm… Oh, of course! Titanic!
Song of the day: Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes- Up Where We Belong
Hi there,
The new song of the day is here!
Although I have not seen the movie where the song of the day comes from, I do know the song, and I think it’s a very good song.
It’s sung by a woman who made a song for Dirty Dancing, too, and the man had a hit with a cover of the Loving Spoonful.
It are Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes with Up Where We Belong.
The song comes from the movie An Officer And A Gentleman, Jennifer Warnes sung the song I’ve Had The Time Of My Life in Dirty Dancing, and Joe Cocker made a cover of the song Summer In The City.
More information?
Tomorrow another song!
Song of the day: Berlin- Take My Breath Away
Hi there,
I thought it might be nice to make a soundtrack song of the day.
It’s a fact for me that it’s an excellent record, I really can’t say if the movie is the same, since I have not yet watched it.
However, I have recorded it, so I’m going to watch it in the weekend or sometime in the near future!
The soundtrack I do know, so I know that it’s made by Berlin, and that it is called Take My Breath Away!
And of course it’s eighties= good music.
Tomorrow two new songs, and then more soundtracks!
Song of the day: Patrick Hernandez- Born To Be Alive
Hi there,
Here’s the new song of the day!
I want to ask you a question: why were you born? Because your parents wanted a child? Or because you wanted to listen to music?
The song of the day gives the reason for being born, or at least: the reason for the singer!
It’s Patrick Hernandez with Born To Be Alive!
And… this is eighties music= good music!
You can’t vote for the Song of the day top 50 anymore, on the 16th of April the list will be published!
Song of the day: Robert Cray- Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark
Hi there,
No jokes for me today! There is a song of the day, as usual.
And again no joke, it’s a good song!
You don’t have to be afraid, because I’m there to hold you.
If you recognized this sentence, you might have an idea…
Robert Cray with Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark!
Tomorrow another song, and please vote for the Song of the day Top 50!
Song of the day: Matthew Wilder- Break My Stride
Hi there,
Here’s the new song of the day!
Not a long introduction, just listen to the song, because it’s good!
Year 1983, if you want to know, so eighties= good music.
Matthew Wilder- Break My Stride!
Tomorrow more good music, and vote for the song of the day top 50!
Song of the day: Chubby Checker- Let’s Twist Again
Hi there,
Today I like some rock ‘n roll…
Yes, I’ve got something good! What do you think about
Chubby Checker with Let’s Twist Again?
Yes, I like this. Let’s do some more rock ‘n roll in the coming days, except friday of course!
Song of the day: Marillion- Kayleigh
Hello there,
Today a song from the eighties, and I think it’s a good song.
One of the questions posed in the song is Do you remember?
I don’t, since I wasn’t there in the eighties…
Okay, it’s Marillion with Kayleigh.
And don’t forget to vote for the Song of the day Top 50!
Song of the day: Alain Clark- Back In My World / Anouk- Birds
Hi there,
Today two new songs of the day, both from Holland!
Firstly, the new single of Alain Clark. It’s really a good single!
I can’t say a lot more about it than that it is very good song.
It’s Alain Clark with Back In My World!
And the second song is our song for the Eurovision Song Contest…
Anouk with Birds!
Some say it’s a bad song, some say it’s really good and we will win…
I don’t know. At least it’s a good single!
That were the songs for today, tomorrow another song!
Song of the day: Europe- The Final Countdown
Hello there,
Today we’re going to space. The song of today has a very good intro, and the rest of the song is also really good.
Shall I just tell which song it is?
Okay! Europe with The Final Countdown!
Tomorrow another song…
Song of the day: Cock Robin- The Promise You Made
Hi there,
If you talk to me about the eighties, there are hundreds of good records which I can name and tell why I like them.
The song of today is also from the eighties, and it’s one of those good records.
However, there’s no special reason why I find this song good.
It’s just a good record, and it would certainly occur in a list of good records from the eighties.
It’s Cock Robin with The Promise You Made.
Talking about promises, there’s something I want to do. In just some more than a month it’s my birthday.
Since I like music very much, but also hitlists, I want to make a hitlist of the songs of the day.
In a few days, I will put on a voting list for this hitlist. I will put it together and the hitlist will be published on my birthday.
Visit this site regularly, and you will find this voting list.
Song(s) of the day: Kensington- Home Again / Emeli Sandé- Clown
Hello there,
Today two songs, and both are new!
The first song is made by a Dutch band, and they have named themselves after a part of London.
They are busy since 2005, but their new single is really good!
It’s Kensington with Home Again!
The second song is made by a singer from Scotland. She is busy since 2009, and has had a few big hits in the past year.
The latest hit was together with Labyrinth.
Yes, it’s Emeli Sandé with Clown!
Next week I’ve two other selections for you!
