Song of the day: Duran Duran- The Reflex

the reflex

Yeah! It’s my birthday today. Now I’m 17 years old. However, it’s also the birthday of Duran Duran’s single The Reflex. And I must say that I’m a big fan of Duran Duran. They are a great band, with lots of good songs. I’ve already featured A View To A Kill once, which is one of the best Bond title songs ever, but this single maybe is their best. 30 years ago it was released, and even after 30 years it’s a great song. Enjoy

Song of the day: Supertramp- It’s Raining Again

Supertramp_It's_Raining_Again_single_cover

Yes! A saxophone song by Supertramp! It’s one of the reasons why I’m a fan of Supertramp. Because almost all their songs feature a saxophone! The text is applicable for the autumn, and especially for these days: rain, rain, nothing like the rain. But that’s another story, probably for some other time. Supertramp had their hits in the eighties, and they made quite a lot. If it would be possible, I would love to see them sometime live! Probably wishful thinking… The nice thing about this song is that it has some sort of lullaby in it, the childrens rhyme: “it’s raining, it’s raining”. I like that twist in the song! So for today, enjoy this rainy song:

Song of the day: Keane- Bend And Break

keane hopes and fears

Something which is a bit more recent… 2004!

This was one of the albums which I bought when I finally found out who had sung Somewhere Only We Know.
And I was very surprised to find out that Crystal Ball was made by the same group, but that is on another album: Under The Iron Sea.
I bought those two together, and became fan of Keane. And if you want to know, Strangeland is also in the record collection.

Well, I mentioned Somewhere Only We Know already, but there are more good songs on this album.

If I only watch the first three songs of the tracklist, I see:

1. Somewhere Only We Know
2. This Is The Last Time
3. Bend And Break

And the last one is the song of the day!

Song of the day: Faithless- We Come 1

Yes, I’m fan of this group. They had some incredible big hits in the nineties, like God is a DJ and Insomnia.
I love those songs, but they made more! There are so many songs by them which I enjoy listening to!
The song of the day is a hit which they had in the zeroes! Many people don’t know this song until they hear it, or even then they don’t recognize it…
Do you know the song We Come 1?

Song of the day: Simple Minds- Alive And Kicking

once-upon-a-time_digitally-remastered-edition

Oh, how I love the Simple Minds! They were a good band, and they are still active, so still a good band.
Now is most of their music good, so I won’t deny that I’m sort of a fan…
And of course, this album was released in 1985. And what is almost all eighties music? Yes, good music!
The track which I have selected as the song of the day is the fourth song of this album, and one of my favourite songs by the Simple Minds.
It’s Alive And Kicking!

Song of the day: Tina Turner- Private Dancer

Tina Turner - Private Dancer (alt)

It’s Sundaymorning. In our family, we used to play albums on Sundaymorning.
Already some years ago, I think when I was seven years old, I asked if I could choose an album to play.
I looked which album I would choose, and I pulled out an album. That’s the album which you can see above:
Tina Turner’s Private Dancer. Since then, I am Tina Turner fan, and particularly this album is my favourite.

There are a lot of good songs on this album, but my own favourite is the title track.
And therefore, the song of the day is Private Dancer from Tina Turner!
