Music documentary: About Meat Loaf

There is a series on TV with all sorts of documentaries on albums of artists: Classic Albums. I absolutely love this series, since the documentaries are very informative, not too long (about an hour) and you really learn something of them. Lately I saw the documentary about Bat Out Of Hell. It was a re-run, but the first time I have missed a part, so I thought: let’s watch it completely this time! And I succeeded.

Why do I choose the documentary of Meat Loaf above all? Because this documentary is on a great album with some hits everybody knows (who doesn’t know Paradise by the Dashboardlight? Apart from most of my classmates, that is…), and with some history and deeper meanings into them. One of the things I learned from this documentary was for instance that the sports part of Paradise By The Dashboardlight was quite naughty… in the Netherlands, this part simply is cut out because the record is too long, in America this part is cut out because of… watch and learn! 🙂

Do you have a link, too? Well, if I’m correct, this must be the one: Bat out of Hell documentary. (if not so, I’m sorry!)

Song of the day: Black Eyed Peas- Don’t Lie

black eyed peas monkey business

Yes, this is a cd I bought last week… it has some hits on it!

I like it! Don’t Lie!

Song of the day: Mando Diao- Dance With Somebody

Howdy everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day. It’s a very good song, and it will be stuck in your head, and for at least one day, you’ll hear:
I’m gonna dance with somebody, dance with somebody, dance, dance, dance etc.

Of course it’s Mando Diao with Dance With Somebody!

Tomorrow another song!

And vote for the Song Of The Week Top 50! It’s only one week to the release of the list, you can vote till Sunday!

Song of the day: Goo Goo Dolls- Rebel Beat / Robin Thicke feat. T.I. & Pharrell- Blurred Lines

Hi there,

Today TWO new songs!

Firstly, a cool new track from the Goo Goo Dolls.
Of course you know them from the hit Iris, but after that, it was very quiet around them in the Netherlands.
In America, they had some other hits. However, they are back!
Their new single is called Rebel Beat and I love this song!

The second song is also good, and it’s made by someone who we know already. Do you remember When I Get You Alone? This is totally different, but the first experience with the song was a good one, so I suggest it as a possible hit:
Robin Thicke with Blurred Lines (feat. T.I. & Pharrell)

Tomorrow the answer to the small question about Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall from yesterday.

And please VOTE for the Song Of The Day Top 50!

Song of the day: Danny & The Juniors- At The Hop

Hi there,

Here’s the new (rock ‘n roll) song of the day! It starts like a bunch of sheep…
Like bah-bah-bah-bah, bah-bah-bah-bah, etc.

Really nice song, though!
It’s Danny & The Juniors with At The Hop!

And if you think, I know it from a movie, could be! In Grease, the song is covered by Sha-Na-Na.

Don’t forget to vote for the Song Of The Day Top 50!

Song of the day: Dr. Alban- It’s My Life

Hi there,

Today we’ve got a dentist in the house!
The singing dentist had one of his first big hits in 1992.
And this hit is the song of the day…

Dr. Alban sings his big hit It’s My Life!

Tomorrow something mysterious…

Song(s) of the day: Caro Emerald- Tangled Up / The Lumineers- Ho Hey!

Ho hey there,

Today we’ve got 2 new songs!

The first song has a title which is simular to the first two words of this post.
You might know Mumford and Sons, and if you like them, you might like this group as well.
If you don’t like them, you probably won’t like this song as well…
It are The Lumineers with Ho Hey!

And then there’s a new song of the woman which I find very good…
She’s Dutch, and she has had one song of the day before.
It’s the new song of Caro Emerald, which is named: Tangled Up
I absolutely like this new song!

Song of the day: Dannii Minogue- I Begin To Wonder

Hi there,

When I was walking down the streets I called your name… or at least, that line is in the song of today.
The song of the day is performed by someone who doesn’t only sing, but she is also acting!

I’m talking about a “cover” from a dance song. The result?
Dannii Minogue with I Begin To Wonder!

Tommorrow another song!

Song of the day: Petula Clark- Downtown

Hello there,

This is the new song of the day. Today the song is quite old, but it didn’t loose the attraction and the cozyness.

It’s Petula Clark with Downtown!

Have fun!

Song of the day: Ram Jam- Black Betty

Hey there,

Today the song is not too complicated. The song is originally an American folksong, but it became popular in a hardrock version.

I’m talking about Ram Jam with Black Betty!

Just sing along, whoa Black Betty, Bambalam!

Song(s) of the day: Ilse DeLange- We Are One / Coldplay- Up In Flames

Hi there,

Today there are two new songs for you!

The first song which I think is very nice, is a song of a Dutch artist.
She is called Ilse DeLange, and she has made a lot of hits already. Her new single was for her father, but he died soon after releasing the single.
This gives the song an extra load.
The song is called We Are One.

The second song of this day is made by Coldplay. For the song, they used a drummachine.
It sounds good, but I do not entirely agree with the use from this machine. I like Coldplay, because they use real instruments!
But, okay, the song is very good. My top-tip from this week is Up In Flames.

That were my first tips for the new month!

Song of the day: Wildstylez feat. Niels Geusebroek- Year Of Summer

Hello everybody,

I have an older new song for you. It is already some weeks popular, so you might know it.

The song is really cool. It has to do something with summer, and I think that it is absolutely good!
I’m talking about Year of Summer by the Wildstylez featuring Niels Geusebroek.

I hope you share my opinion and that you like it too!

Song of the day: Eurythmics- Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)

Hello,

Today the song of the day is made by a band which I can appreciate very much. Their music is very good.
The song is from 1983, and is about the thing dreams are made of…

It are the Eurythmics with Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)

What you maybe didn’t know about this song, is that the song was the breakthrough for their success.
Later they made songs like There Must Be An Angel, and of course the 1984 song Sexcrime.

Tomorrow another song!

Song of the day: The Beach Boys- Good Vibrations

Hello everyone,

I’m now looking out my window, and I see a white landscape. By the way, that’s in Holland.
Well, when it’s like this (I hate snow) I start looking for something sunny.

Since I’m doing songs of the sixties, the song of the day is made by the Beach Boys.
All their songs are quite sunny, with as ultimate song: Good Vibrations.

Well, this makes my day!

Song of the day: The Beatles- Penny Lane

Hi there,

Here’s another song for you.

The song of today is in a cartoon. The song is made by four men, who have had a lot of hits, and who all had long hair.

Yes, it are the Beatles, with Penny Lane. The cartoon is quite funny, and the song is very good, of course!

Enjoy listening to it!

Song of the day: The Doors- Light My Fire

Hello everyone,

Today the song is made by some things which can open and close (cryptic, isn’t it?)
The want to make some light. (Nobody knows where I’m talking about)

It are the Doors with Light My Fire

Tomorrow another one, with another cryptic description!

Song of the day: David Bowie- Where Are We Now / Pink- Just Give Me A Reason

Hello everyone,

Today it’s friday: superfriday! Two new songs, and both of the artists are quite famous.

The first one is back from being away: David Bowie! From the famous song Space Oddity (Ground control to Major Tom…) and Ziggy Stardust.
The single was released on 8 January, his birthday. He became 66, and a new CD is coming up!
Until then, we have to be happy with his new song: Where Are We Now?

And the second song of the day is made by a woman who became famous in the last years.
She has the name of a colour… it’s Pink!
Together with the singer of Fun (We are young), Nate Ruess she recorded the song Just Give Me A Reason.

Next week two other new songs, and tomorrow a new an old song…

Song of the day: Safri Duo- Bongo Song

Hello everyone,

Here’s another song of the day. the song of today gives a summer feeling, which might be nice in wintertime.
The artists are two brothers, who both went to the music school. They came from Denmark!

No, you don’t know? The brothers are called Uffe Savery and Morten Friis, and the two together make the Safri Duo.
Their biggest hit was in 2001 Played-A-Live (the Bongo Song).

Tomorrow another sunny song!

Song of the day: Electric Light Orchestra- Mr. Blue Sky

Hello again,

A new song of the day is waiting for you!

It’s a happy song, made by an orchestra. It was written on a mountain, it was foggy for the whole week, and all of a sudden the sun comes through!
The song was remastered in 2012, but I still like the old version better.

It’s ELO (electric light orchestra) with Mr. Blue Sky.

Get happy!

Song(s) of the day: Avicii vs. Nicky Romero- I Could Be The One / Justive Collective- He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother

Hello everyone,

Today it’s friday, which means: two new songs!
And I have some good songs…

The first song is made for some kind of charity. The Justice Collective is a band with all kind of artists, including Robbie Williams and Melanie C.
This song went to number one in the UK, and I think that it might go to high positions in other countries, as well.
It’s a cover from He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.

The second song is made by two DJ’s. One is very known, the other one is new. And the new one is Dutch!
The new one is Nicky Romero, and the known one is Avicii.
The track is called I Could Be The One.

And the song of the week is… not relevant anymore.

Song of the day: Mark & Clark Band- Worn Down Piano

The last song for this year!

But, don’t fear, in 2013 are there very many other songs waiting.

I want to close this year with a song which I like so much! It’s absolutely one of the best songs ever made!

Which one? Worn down piano from the Mark & Clark band. It starts and it ends beautiful, and the part in between is fabulous!
Enjoy the 8 minutes and 10 seconds, and the story about the piano which nobody wants to buy, but which everyone wants if someone plays it!

I hope to welcome you back in the new year, in 2013!

Song of the day: JXL vs. Elvis Presley- A Little Less Conversation

Yes, here we are again!

A little bit more recent than yesterday, to be precise: 2002.
And the song is with Elvis Presley! Huh? Impossible, isn’t it?
No. It’s a remix, made by the Dutch producer Tom Holkenborg, better known as Junkie XL, or JXL.

The remix was approved by the family of Elvis, and the song is called: A little less conversation.

And to agree with this song, I will hereby stop talking and I will see you tomorrow!

Song of the day: Crash Test Dummies- Mmm mmm mmm mmm

Hello,

Here we go with another song of the day.
I saw that I was approaching the 100 posts, so I want to write post number 100 on the last day of this year!
Okay, first the song of today.

This song has impressed me in the positive way, so it’s the song of the day. The clip is also nice to see.
The title of the song has 12 letters, but actually it’s only one letter.
I’m talking about the Crash Test Dummies. The song is called Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm.

Watch it and I hope it impresses you as well!

Song of the day: Alice Cooper- School’s Out

Hello everyone,

Did you survive Christmas? Well, I still have one day to go! In the Netherlands, we actually have two days of Christmas.

Tomorrow a new song!

Song of the day: Paul McCartney- We All Stand Together

Hello everyone,

After the frog from Roger Glover yesterday, I had a visit from some more frogs. They came together with Rupert the Bear, to tell me that their song should be song of the day.
Well, because of this question, and because it’s a good song, here’s:
Paul McCartney with We All Stand Together!

Of course, Paul didn’t do it alone. No, not with the Beatles, but together with the Frog Chorus!
Well, Christmas is creeping closer and closer…
Tomorrow a new song!

Song of the day: Roger Glover & Guests- Love Is All

Hello everyone,

Here’s another song of the day. It’s not a Christmas song, with which I start tomorrow!
Firstly, a clip with a frog who is singing the song.

No, I have not gone mad, I’m talking about Roger Glover and Guests, with Love is all.
It was one of the first drawn clips, and later Paul McCartney did it, too, with his song We all stand together.

That was it for today, and tomorrow a new song!

Hello everyone,

In this single, he sings with his father, and in the song there are some songtitles of the Beatles.I’m talking about Roel VanVelzen, shortly VanVelzen, with Sing Sing Sing.
In this song you can hear the following titles of Beatlessongs:

Strawberry fields forever

The long and winding road

Got to get you into my life

That was the first song, which I find absolutely a hit!
The second song is made by a singer which I heard only a few minutes ago. Immediately, I thought: this is the song of today!

Hello everyone,

Here’s the new song of the day.
The song of today is made by a Dutch band, who are helped by Coldplay to get some fame in other countries.

The video is quite special, since it’s a stop motion video with over 3000 photographs!
In total, the video took over 32 hours of making photographs, acting and posing.

And the video is beautiful! It’s about a woman, whose senses are playing a big role.

I wish you a lot of fun with it!

Song of the day: The Verve- Bittersweet Symphony

Christmas is coming near, just like 2013, and the end of the world…
But that last thing is nonsense!

Okay, first the song of the day. I said something with classic music, right?
What do you think of the Verve? Yes, with a Bittersweet Symphony!

Yes, I understand. It’s not really classic music. But the thing I was pointing out is the symphony. That’s classic music, isn’t it?
Okay, and it isn’t entirely about the clip. Actually about the song, because it’s such a good song!

Well, tomorrow a new song. And then it is about the clip!

Song of the day: Genesis- Jesus He Knows Me

Hello everybody!!!

Here’s another song of the day, with a nice clip!
The song is made by Genesis, a music group which is active since the sixties, and it was active until 2010.
And… wait! In Genesis, there was an artist we already know! Peter Gabriel, from the stopmotion video of Sledgehammer!
That’s nice, isn’t it?

Well, tomorrow.. Oh wait! I forgot the song! The song of the day is Jesus He Knows Me.
It’s one of the later songs of Genesis, from 1992.

Tomorrow a new song, and since the weather is so bad, it’s going to rain!

“Huh?? What does he mean?”
“How am I supposed to know that? He’s so cryptic, I mostly don’t know what song is the song of the day!”
