Song of the day: Godley & Creme- An Englishman In New York

In 1979, Godley & Creme released An Englishman In New York. It was a single from their album Freeze Frame, and was mostly a hit in the Netherlands and Belgium, where it peaked at number 4. Godley & Creme originally were members of 10CC, but decided to quit the band and move on together. The song was famous for its music video, and both have been directing music videos more than scoring hits. They directed videos for Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Duran Duran and many others. Enjoy

Song of the day: Duran Duran- The Reflex

Yeah! It’s my birthday today. Now I’m 17 years old. However, it’s also the birthday of Duran Duran’s single The Reflex. And I must say that I’m a big fan of Duran Duran. They are a great band, with lots of good songs. I’ve already featured A View To A Kill once, which is one of the best Bond title songs ever, but this single maybe is their best. 30 years ago it was released, and even after 30 years it’s a great song. Enjoy

Duran Duran- The Reflex

Nile Rodgers

For the people who’ve read this blog longer, or who have read a lot of posts, this choice is not a big surprise. They already know I’m a very BIG fan of disco. And this man has influenced disco a lot. Actually, he did not make a lot of  solo work, but I have not yet heard it. However, he was the brain behind lots of good disco acts. The man formed the group Chic, who are good!, he was the brain behind Sister Sledge, and later he was responsible as a producer for The Reflex (Duran Duran), Like A Virgin (Madonna), Let’s Dance (David Bowie) and that were just some of the records.

Nile Rodgers showed us in 2013 that he was never really away, by showing up for “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk. Again, he had a big hit. And for 2014, he played on “Calling All Hearts”. This man changed the music in a very positive way, and therefore he definitively deserves a place in the Chris Hall Of Fame!

Song of the day: Duran Duran- A View To A Kill

Hello everybody,

The movies of James Bond cause a lot of hits. One of the hits is the song of today.
The band who made the song, has two words in their name, both the same.

Which band? Duran Duran. They made the song for the movie A View To A Kill.

The Bond at the time of the movie was Roger Moore, according to me one of the best Bonds.
You also can see him in the clip.

Tomorrow a new song!

Band Aid- Do They Know It’s Christmas / Chris Rea- Driving Home For Christmas

Hello everyone,

I wish everybody a merry Christmas! And because of this special day, I have some presents for you!
Because today not one, but two songs! And both are Christmas songs!

The first one is made by Chris Rea, a great artist. His song is one of the Christmas classics.
Maybe you have to drive home too, I’m home, but okay… Driving home for Christmas!

The second song of today was made for charity. The record was made by a lot of different artists, including Ultravox and Duran Duran.
It’s Band Aid with Do They Know It’s Christmas?

I wish you a very merry Christmas, and I hope you have a nice day!

Greetings,Chris
