In 1981, the soundtrack of the James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only was released. It would be number 4 in the US and number 8 in the UK. Actually, Blondie also wanted to make the theme song, but this song was not good enough for the producers. Bill Conti and Mike Leeson wrote this song, with singers like Dusty Springfield or Donna Summer in mind to sing it. United Artists suggested Sheena Easton, a rising star. Conti wasn’t convinced, but decided to have a talk. In the end, she sung it! Enjoy

Song of the day: Giorgio Moroder- Chase

Giorgio Moroder was the man behind the success of Donna Summer, especially for composing the music for I Feel Love. Because of this success, Alan Parker asked Giorgio Moroder to compose music for his movie Midnight Express. Moroder did so and made the piece Chase, which is an electronic instrumental music piece. It would be a number 33 hit in the US, and later, in a remixed version, even a number 1 in the club chart. Enjoy

Song of the day: Richard Harris- MacArthur Park

Remember I was writing about Donna Summer yesterday? I mentioned MacArthur Park, but actually I think the version by Richard Harris is better.
It’s a version from 1968, and I know what you are thinking now! You think: Richard Harris?
I know the name! An actor, right? And that is completely true! He was the one who played Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies.

But now we are listening to the great song MacArthur Park, performed by Richard Harris!

Song of the day: Donna Summer- Hot Stuff

It was a year ago when she died. On the 17th of May, 2012, Donna Summer died.
Unfortunately, I forgot when she died, otherwise this post would have been there on the 17th of May.
It is not too late!

The Queen of Disco still lives in her hits, and one of her biggest hits is the song of the day.
Actually, I’m doubting a bit. She made some great songs, like MacArthur Park and On the Radio, but these aren’t exactly disco…
Oh! I know the solution.

What do you think of Hot Stuff as song of the day???
