Song of the day: The Contours- Do You Love Me
In 1962, the Contours released a song on a sub label of Motown, Gordy. Berry Gordy had written the song for the Temptations, to score their first hit with it. At the time of recording, the Temptations were not there, since they had not been notified. Berry Gordy looked some time for them, but found the Contours instead. Berry Gordy wanted to make the song a hit as fast as possible, and the Contours needed a hit, since they were in danger of being fired because of having no hits. Both were helped: the song became a number 3 hit in the US. In 1988, they re-entered the charts because of Dirty Dancing, in which the song is featured. Enjoy

Song of the day: Eric Carmen- All By Myself
Again the box with singles, but we didn’t find this single. We found another version, made by Shirley Bassey. Nothing wrong with Shirley Bassey of course, but this song was stuck in my mind with a male voice, and since Shirley isn’t male, it didn’t match my ideas. This male voice was provided by Eric Carmen, who made Hungry Eyes for Dirty Dancing as well. And looking this song (All By Myself) up made me find some other (future) song of the day, but I will tell you when that day comes…
For the moment, enjoy:

Song of the day: Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes- Up Where We Belong
Hi there,
The new song of the day is here!
Although I have not seen the movie where the song of the day comes from, I do know the song, and I think it’s a very good song.
It’s sung by a woman who made a song for Dirty Dancing, too, and the man had a hit with a cover of the Loving Spoonful.
It are Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes with Up Where We Belong.
The song comes from the movie An Officer And A Gentleman, Jennifer Warnes sung the song I’ve Had The Time Of My Life in Dirty Dancing, and Joe Cocker made a cover of the song Summer In The City.

Tomorrow another song!
Song of the day: Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes- I’ve Had The Time Of My Life

After Lou Bega from yesterday, I thought that some more mambo could be nice.
And therefore, the song of the day comes from a movie…
From Dirty Dancing, here are:
Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes with I’ve Had The Time Of My Life.
Tomorrow two new songs, on superfriday!
