FlinterFile: Lost Frequencies- Are You With Me
In 2015, the Belgian DJ Lost Frequencies had a hit with a remix. The original song dates back to 2012, when Easton Corbin recorded the song as a country song. However, that’s not what it was after Lost Frequencies was done with it: he used the music and refrain of the song, made it a lot faster and put the whole thing together as a deep house song. Not a bad idea, since the song made it to number 1 in the UK (and it was the shortest number 1, as it topped the charts in the week the publishing of the charts changed from Sunday to Friday…). Enjoy

Song of the day: Emmylou Harris- (You Never Can Tell) C’est La Vie
In 1977, Emmylou Harris had a hit with an old song. The original of the song was made by Chuck Berry in 1964. It is a song about a couple getting married. He was just free from 20 months in jail, and started having hits again. This song ended on number 14 in the US. Emmylou Harris took the song, renamed it and had a top 10 country hit with it. Enjoy

Song of the day: Fats Domino- Ain’t That A Shame
This song originally was released in 1955 by Fats Domino, who scored a big hit with it. He sold millions of copies, and reached number 10 in the pop chart. Pat Boone re-recorded the song, and brought it to the white audience. After that, his version was forgotten about, since the version by Fats Domino also reached the white audience. However, I knew this version before the one of Fats, and still think this is also a great song. Enjoy

Song of the day: Shania Twain- That Don’t Impress Me Much
The album Come On Over was a successalbum for Shania Twain: this song was the sixth country single from that album! Later it would become a dance single. It would become number 7 in the US and number 3 in the UK! Enjoy

Song of the day: Lynn Anderson- Rose Garden
Before Lynn Anderson recorded this song in 1970, and made a hit out of it (number 3 in the US and the UK), the song had been recorded by several other artists. The first one was the writer of the song, Joe South. After that, several males recorded it and also the Three Degrees tried to make a hit out of it. However, it could have been we never heard the song in Lynn’s version: her husband did not want her to record it, because it was a song for man: women couldn’t buy big diamond rings for their men! It was recorded when there was time left, and after hearing this song, the boss of the record label insisted on making it a single, which became the hit we now know. Enjoy

Song of the day: Johnny Cash- Ring Of Fire
I think it was three years ago, when our geography teacher gave us the task to make a project about some things like earthquakes and volcanoes. One group had to find out some things about the Ring of Fire. The teacher mentioned the song with it, which was the sign for me to think: let’s give it a listen! Now i love the song a lot, so the song of the day is:

Song of the day: The Mavericks- Dance The Night Away
Oh… a lot of clouds today. However, I don’t mind, because the temperature is still right. And hopefully the sun will creep out some later…
I have just heard this record on the radio, and I have not heard it in a long time! But now I’ve heard it, I remembered and immediately it’s song of the day!
Some sort of country, but I love the record Dance The Night Away by the Mavericks!
Voting for the Summer Song of the Day Top 20 starts tomorrow!
