Song of the day: Ziggy Marley- Tomorrow People

Ziggy Marley - Conscious Party

This is one of the sons of Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley. And just like Bob Marley, he makes reggae, too. And where do we associate reggae with? Yes, the summer. And since this is the last summer song of the day for this year, I thought it might be nice to end with one of the sons of Bob Marley. The song of the day is my personal favourite by Ziggy Marley. He recorded it with the Melody Makers, and it is from the late eighties.

Song of the day: Aswad- Shine

How I love reggae music! Bob Marley is one of my favourites, but Aswad is good too. As what? Well, a singer. (Must be a funny joke)
Never mind my jokes, but let’s be serious. If there is one thing associated with the summer, it’s reggae. And Aswad sounds a bit like Bob Marley… but don’t get fooled! They are British!

The song of the day is a hit from the nineties, 1994. Enough talking, get dancing on:

Summer Song of the Day #2: Bob Marley- Could You Be Loved

Remember Gary Pine yesterday? He was a member of the Wailers, replacing the man of today: Bob Marley. And yes, today the Wailers are in the spotlights, together with Bob Marley, the reggae king according to me.
The hits they had are absolutely fabulous, and this is one of the best. The story of the writing is a nice one: it was written in an airplane! The Wailers were experimenting, and this song came up. The influences of the disco which was coming up (early eighties) are there, reggae is there, a formula to success!
This all makes it to a number 2 in the Summer Song of the Day Top 20!

Summer Song of the Day #3: Bob Sinclar- Love Generation

We are almost there! It’s time for the Top 3, starting with number 3. And on number 3 there is a nice song with a nice whistle.
It was a big hit in 2005, and it gets better: the vocals were by Gary Pine. So what?, you might think.
I will tell you that Gary Pine was a member of the Wailers. You might know that name, but only in combination with Bob Marley. Gary Pine replaced Bob Marley in the Wailers, and made a new album with the Wailers.

He did the vocals for this song, Bob Sinclar the rest, and together it made a hit. A hit in the charts, but also in the Summer Song of the Day Top 20, where they ended on number 3!
