FlinterFile: Ben Liebrand- Dancer

Liebrand-Dancer

In 2015, Ben Liebrand released his new album Iconic Groove, 25 years after his first album, Styles. One of the iconic grooves that is on the album, is the groove of the song Dancer. The song was originally played by Gino Soccio, who started his career in the disco playing keyboards on an album for producer Pat Deserio. For Soccio, it was the only hit (number 1 in the US disco chart) before disappearing in 1982. That’s one of the reasons Ben Liebrand also made a Where’s Gino Soccio mix of the song. Enjoy

Song of the day: Ben Liebrand- Move To The Bigband

Yes, you may know one thing about Ben Liebrand and his music: I absolutely adore his Minimixes, mixes and the music he remixed and made! One of the songs I like most is the song of the day, which makes me happy. It didn’t end very high in the Top 40, but it certainly is good! Enjoy the work of the Mastermixer:

Song of the day: MC Miker G & DJ Sven- Holiday Rap

Do you remember… this record? It was a big hit in the 1980s, 1986 to be precise. A remix of Madonna’s Holiday, with some lyrics by Cliff Richard, and the rest was made by them, I believe.
It was remixed by no one less than… Ben Liebrand! And there is something else nice about this song: Deejay Sven is now DJ Sven, part of the team of Somertijd, the radio show I listen to in the afternoon, and on Saturday night he has a programme with a lot of dance classics, and who makes mixes for that programme? Yes, Ben Liebrand!

Well, it was a big hit back then, and it’s nice to listen to now, so the song of the day is: The Holiday Rap! (The clip was broadcasted on the BBC, but it reached the top 10 in a lot of countries)
