Song of the day: P!nk- Get The Party Started

Pink-Get_The_Party_Started_(CD_Single)-Frontal

In 2001, P!nk released her biggest hit so far with the first single from the second album. Linda Perry from the 4 Non Blondes wrote the song, and the process was the weirdest she had made through. She started with the drums, then she added the bass, and other wrong instruments like a horn. Furthermore, she wrote a strange text, and in the end she realized she wrote a potential dance hit. She was right, as P!nk brought it to number 4 in the US and number 2 in the UK. Enjoy

Song of the day: Marvin Gaye- What’s Going On

In 1971, Marvin Gaye released this song on the Motown label. It was inspired by a police incident, where they were quite cruel. This all started with an anti-war protest, which were quite common these days. There, a member of the Four Tops witnessed the police acting violent against the protestors. He was upset and discussed it with the writer of this song. Now it’s more known as a protest song than what it actually was: a song about love and understanding. Later, the 4 Non Blondes renamed their song to avoid confusion. I think the song is very good, in text and in story, so take a listen to

Song of the day: 4 Non Blondes- What’s Up?

Okay, the songs for the last days will be put on as soon as possible, but I want to put on the songs for the next days firstly, because they are still to come. What a drama if your internet doesn’t want to load at all and you did not plan in some songs… (That’s why there’s no illustration yet: next week…)

4 non blondes what's up

For today, I’ve got a nice song from the nineties which was made by four women who thought: well, we are no blondes, let’s do something with that in our bandname. They only had one hit, but I think they made good money of it, since it peaked at number one in a lot of different countries. And note this: the title is not mentioned in the song… Actually they wanted to call it What’s Going On, but this title was already in use by Marvin Gaye, so they thought, to avoid confusion: we call it What’s Up.
