Song of the day: Mark Morrison- Return Of The Mack

In 1996, Mark Morrison hit the charts with a dance classic. Mark had been in prison, and wanted to change his life from negative to positive. So he did by coming back as a singer, nicknamed the Mack. It was a good idea: the song was number 2 in the US and number 1 in the UK. Enjoy

Song of the day: Negrocan- Cada Vez

negrocan cada vez

Our story of today starts in 1991, when a group of several artists is formed. The artists come from different countries, namely Italy, England, Uruguay, Chile and Brazil. They name themselves  Negrocan. Their style has some funk in it, but also the clear inspiration of Latin and some soul. That combines in a single, Cada Vez, which is still played a lot during the summer. Enjoy

Song of the day: The Fugees- Killing Me Softly

The nineties was not only dance! There was more, like this very tender song. I really adore the singer, since it’s so soft, so smooth, great! And then comes that little beat for the rap, but it’s not like all the rap. It’s like the normal speaking, singing. A great song!

Song of the day: Mr. President- Coco Jamboo

mrpresidentcocojamboojp

A typical summer song from the nineties? There are lots of examples, including the Macarena, but Coco Jamboo by Mr. President is a good one, too. It was released in the same year as the remix of the Macarena, and in some countries it was the follow-up on the first position of the hit charts. I guess it was their biggest hit, and actually the only one, too…
Looking on Wikipedia it says that they had more singles, but none stuck in our collective mind. Only one single made it to eternity, one big hit which will be remembered a long time after the number one position. It’s more than nothing, isn’t it? So enjoy

Summer Song of the Day #19: Los Del Rios- Macarena

Nineties, summer, dance. Almost all the qualities of this song to become a hit. The Summer hit of 1996. But actually, we have to say: The Bayside Boys Remix.
The original song was not such a hit, but in the remix, it became a big hit! And now almost everyone knows the song AND the dance!
So, what do you mean by popular?

The popularity was good to have a 19th place in the Summer Song of the Day Top 20:

Song of the day: Janet Jackson- What Have You Done For Me Lately?

janet jackson design of a decade

You might now think: Who’s that woman and what is she doing on this blog?
Well, let me introduce to you: Janet Jackson, the sister of Michael. And this is, for the people who have not recognized it, the front of her greatest hits album Design Of A Decade: 1986-1996.
Some people think this title is not the right title for this album, since it mainly features songs in the period 1986-1990, but that all does not matter.
Those people probably don’t listen to the album but only discuss about what’s on there.

I listen to the album and hear great songs, and of course, my personal favourite is song of the day.
It’s a song which I think is very nice to hear, it’s What Have You Done For Me Lately?

Song of the day: Total Touch- Touch Me There

Hello everyone,

Here is the song for today. It’s a song from the nineties, and it is made by a Dutch group, around the singer Trijntje Oosterhuis.

The song is from 1996, the group was called Total Touch, and the song was called Touch Me There.

I always get happy by hearing this song, and I hope you get the same feeling.

Greetings,

Chris
