FlinterFile: The Beatles- Yesterday
This Beatles song actually is a solo song from Paul McCartney. He is the only one singing and playing, and also wrote the song himself. He had the tune in his head when he stood up one day and named the song ‘Scrambled Eggs’ until he had written the lyrics. According to McCartney the song was written in two weeks, partly in a holiday home, owned by Bruce Welsh (the Shadows). When Bruce was leaving, McCartney asked if he had a guitar, to work on his song. Back in the studio George Martin, the producer, suggested to add some strings to the song. However, Paul McCartney didn’t like the idea, as they were a rock ‘n roll band. Eventually, those were added and the song reached a big public: it was number 8 in the UK and number 1 in the US in 1965. After that, the song became one of the most covered songs, with more than 3000 versions! Enjoy
