FlinterFile: The Doors- Riders On The Storm
This song was the last song the Doors ever recorded with Jim Morrison – he died a few weeks later in 1971.The lyrics of the song are autobiographical: Jim Morrison hitchhiked a lot when he had a girlfriend, living 280 miles away. He used the idea of a hitchhiker in a screenplay, in which he would play the hitchhiker, a killer on the road. When the band was jamming to the song Ghost Riders In The Sky, a cowboy song by Stan Jones, Jim Morrison came up with the title Riders On The Storm. Some special effects were used: the rain comes from an electric piano (unbelievable!) and Jim Morrison recorded the lyrics once more, whispering. These are dubbed over the singing, creating a new effect. The end was seen as a sort of whisper from the other side… The song was number 22 in the UK and number 14 in the US. Enjoy
