FlinterFile: Pink Floyd- Money
Pink Floyd released their famous album Dark Side Of The Moon in 1973.This was one of the songs on the album, with quite some interesting things about it. It was written by Roger Waters, who had it almost completed when he came into the studio. There they started working on the recording. With a new 16 track recorder, they could mix the music easier with the sound effects they were using. In the whole track, a cash register can be heard. This sound was recorded and then looped by cutting and pasting together the sound over and over again – quite some work. Also the saxophone player had a hard time: the time signature is not very easy to play. With Alan Parsons as producer, the song about the bad side of money became a hit: number 13 in the US (it wasn’t released as a single in the UK).
