FlinterFile: The Pipkins- Gimme Dat Ding
The song Gimme Dat Ding was written for a children’s show. The writers were Mike Hazlewood and Albert Hammond, who together wrote other hits like The Air That I Breathe. It was quite a simple song, about a pianola and a metronome, who lost its click. Actually the Pipkins didn’t exist, as the producer of the song, Roger Greenaway, formed it with a studio musician, Tony Burrows. He also sang on Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes) by Edison Lighthouse. Surprisingly it was quite a hit, making number 9 in the US and number 6 in the UK. Enjoy
