FlinterFile: Duran Duran- Rio
Duran Duran had the desire to have success in the USA.They wrote a song about it, called Rio. Rio is a metaphor for the USA, although it sounds like it’s a girl or the city, but in the lines it is clear that America is meant: from the mountains in the north to the Rio Grande can’t be anything else than the USA. The girl ideas came from a trip to America, where Simon Le Bon had written about a waitress on the back of a napkin. The song was a hit in 1982 in the UK, where it was number 9, and in the US, where it was number 14. Enjoy
