FlinterFile: The Clash- London Calling
The Clash came in 1979 with a song about the many ways the world could come to an end.Joe Strummer, the singer of the band, wrote it after his fiancee suggesting to do something with the potential flooding of London. As he himself was a news junkie, he took lots of images from the news and with the background of the Cold War the song was written quickly. Included in the disasters were a nuclear error, a new ice age and war. The line about the flooding of London also referred to the place Joe was living, as he kept dry: he lived in a high rise appartment in World’s End (not making this up). It was a number 11 hit in the UK. Enjoy
