FlinterFile: Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich- Bend It!
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich released a single in 1966.The song was written by Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley, who wrote several hits for the group, but also wrote hits for Elvis Presley and the Honeycombs. The song was inspired by the music of Zorba the Greek, hence an electric mandolin was used to create the Greek sound. In the US, the single was not played as the lyrics were seen as too suggestive, so a new version with different lyrics was released there. It wouldn’t help, as it didn’t become a hit there. In the UK this song became a number 2 hit, in Germany it was number 1. Enjoy
