Song of the day: Kraftwerk- Autobahn
Kraftwerk is one of the bands that were very influential in music. They were one of the first who didn’t use normal instruments and opened up the way for dance, house, techno, hip hop and the more.Autobahn was their first hit in 1974, which recreated the drive on a highway. On the record, it lasts for 22 and a half minutes! Ralf Hutter had hung a microphone out of his Volkswagen to record the sounds of cars passing, but that didn’t give a good sound. Therefore, he decided to use synthesizers to create the car sounds. Actually, he was a classical music student. With Kraftwerk he created modern symphonys, but he didn’t use notes: instead he wrote down keywords and built the symphony around it. The little lyrics were inspired by Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys. It was number 25 in the UK and number 11 in the US. Enjoy
