FlinterFile: The Firm- Star Trekkin’
In the eighties, the Firm was mainly known for their novelty hits. The band was formed by Joe O’Connor, who was an acoustic guitarist and specialized in recording music demos. In 1982 he had his first hit with the Firm, Arthur Daley ‘E’s Alright. In 1987 they made another parody, this time of the television series Star Trekkin’. However, every label O’Connor asked turned him down. Eventually he decided to make 500 copies of the song himself. With the video, a clay puppet animation, the song sold quite well: it charted in the UK on number 1 for two weeks, was a number 3 hit in Australia and sold millions of copies worldwide. Enjoy
