FlinterFile: Marillion- Lavender
Marillion probably ist best known for their album Misplaced Childhood with the single Kayleigh. The follow-up single was Lavender, which would become their second biggest hit in 1985. It’s a love song which calls upon the innocence of childhood. Therefore, two inspiration sources were used: the old folk song Lavender’s Blue and Joni Mitchell’s The Hissing of Summer Lawns, which Marillion listened to quite a lot. The song was a hit in the UK, reaching number 5. Enjoy
