FlinterFile: Santana- Oye Como Va
This song originally was not from Santana. It was already recorded in the fifties, by Tito Puente, a musician who was very popular in the Latin community. When Santana recorded the song in 1970, the melody wasn’t changed. The song was only made a bit faster and played with more instruments. The song was sung by Gregg Rolie, who was one of the founders of Santana and the keyboard player. The popularity of Santana’s version also had positive consequences for Tito Puente: he became known by a wider public. It was a number 13 hit in the US. Enjoy
