In 1976, the movie Sparkle was released. Irene Cara starred in the movie, in which music played an important role. Most songs were written by Curtis Mayfield, the genre was what fitted Aretha: Soul and R&B. It sounds like a successformula, and it was: it meant the return of Aretha Franklin to the hit charts, with this song making it to number 82 in the US (number 10 in the R&B chart) and number 77 in Canada.
