In 1966, the Standells had a hit with a Garage Rock song. The song was written by Ed Cobb, a producer at Capitol Records who also wrote Tainted Love. He was with the Standells in California, but wrote this song about the pollution in Boston. It fitted in the trend, with songs as Surfin’ Bird from the Trashmen as other hits in the genre. They also played a few roles in television shows, and with this song, they had their first chart hit: a number 11 hit in the US. Enjoy
