FlinterFile: The Hollywood Argyles- Alley Oop
In 1960, the Hollywood Argyles had their only hit. The Hollywood Argyles originally were one person: Gary Paxton. The name of the group was derived from the streets that the studio was at: Hollywood Boulevard and Argyle Street. The song was written by Dallas Frazier, a country singer who recorded it in 1966. He got his idea of a comic about a caveman named Alley Oop. The song was a big hit: number 24 in the UK and number 1 in the US! Enjoy
