In 1986, the Beastie Boys became superstars. However, it never was their intention: this whole song was a joke…It started with goofing around with some dumb rock songs. They recorded the lyrics (for fun), then their producer added the guitar and drums, continuing they recorded a video and before they knew it, they had created a new fanbase and they had become such a group they were making a parody on. They were not taken seriously in the rap scene, but the big public did buy their single: it was a number 11 hit in the UK and number 7 in the US. Enjoy
