FlinterFile: Tammy Wynette- Stand By Your Man
In 1968, Tammy Wynette released one of her most successful songs. She wrote it together with Billy Sherrill, who offered her a contract on Epic. Together they had the song finished in 15 minutes, but it was not very easy to ‘sell’ it: George Jones, who later married her, didn’t like the song at all. The feminists didn’t like the song too: it would belittle women. However, the song became a success: number 1 in the UK and number 19 in the US. Enjoy
