FlinterFile: Paula Abdul- Straight Up
In 1988, Paula Abdul released her third single and breakthrough hit. She started her career as a cheerleader and dancer, worked with Janet Jackson on some dances for MTV (such as Nasty and What Have You Done For Me Lately), went on to work for ZZ Top and Duran Duran, and then started her own singing career. After two singles, which established her as a singer of dance music, she finally was successful with this song. The video won several MTV prizes, of which one was for, yes, best dance. Therefore, she also went on tour with MTV (the famous tour where Milli Vanilli was caught as ‘fake’). This song was a number 1 hit in the US and number 3 in the UK. Enjoy
