FlinterFile: Elton John & Kiki Dee- Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
In 1976, Elton John and Kiki Dee recorded a duet. They both loved the duets on the Motown label, but at the time, there hadn’t been one for some time, so they made one themselves. They were never in the studio together, because Elton John recorded his parts in Toronto and Kiki Dee in London. However, Elton first sang almost all of the song, leaving four lines for Kiki Dee. His producer then reminded Elton what a duet was, which made him sing less. The first idea, however, was not to record this song, but a cover of Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever from the Four Tops. This song, however, brought them a big hit: number 1 in both the UK and the US, for Elton John the first number 1 he had in the UK. Enjoy
